CHIGOZIE ATUANYA'S 'CHETANNA' WINS BEST INDIGENOUS FILM AT GIAMA AWARDS

Chigozie Atuanya's Igbo language movie, Chetanna, won the award for Best Indigenous Film at the Golden Icons Academy Movie Awards (GIAMA), which took place last Saturday (October 25), in Houston. The movie made history earlier this year, when it became the first Igbo language movie to be premiered in the United States. It was premiered on July 25 at the Igbo World Festival of Arts and Culture, which was held at the Frontier Culture Museum in Staunton, Virginia.

Hip Hip Hooray! Today (September 13) is the birthday of Nollywood actor, Chigozie Atuanya. He is from Agu-Ukwu Nri, Anambra State, Nigeria. He attended Enugu State University of Technology, where he studied Public Administration. The first movie in which he appeared was King Jaja of Opobo (1998). The second movie he appeared in was Rattle Snake 3 (1999). Some of his other movies are Ladies Men, Blackberry Babes, Battle for Pride, Love Apart, and War Game. In 2011, he won the City People Award for Best Actor. He got married in August 2013 to his wife, Obianuju. CHIGOZIE ATUANYA BACK IN NIGERIA AFTER RECEIVING AWARD IN VIRGINIA

Nollywood star, Chigozie Atuanya, is back in Nigeria, after a visit to the United States, during which he premiered his movie, Chetanna, at the World Igbo Festival of Arts and Culture, which took place in Staunton, Virginia. At the festival, the actor received the Igbo Community Service Appreciation Award from the Council of Igbo States in America. He was given the award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the promotion of Igbo values, his contribution to Nollywood, and the premiere of his movie, Chetanna.

AASEP PAYS LAST RESPECTS TO OZOEMENA NSUGBE

Members of the Association of Anambra State Entertainment Practitioners (AASEP) last Friday, came in from all parts of the federation to pay their last respects to the late King of Ekpiri music, Peter Achukwu Muo (aka Ozoemena Nsugbe). They joined other members of the public in Nsugbe, Anambra State, for the burial of the late musician. CHIGOZIE ATUANYA AND YUL EDOCHIE PLAYING TWINS IN NEW MOVIE

Chigozie Atuanya and Yul Edochie, are playing feuding twins in a new movie, which is currently being shot in Lagos. The movie deals with royalty, and the two actors play princes in the movie. The movie is being directed by Ejike Chimobim and it also stars Esther Audu.

The award night, which was used to honour Umu Igbo, who had excelled in their various fields. The movie will be premiered at the Igbo World Festival of Arts and Culture in in Virginia on July 24. After the Virginia premiere, it will then the premiered in Nigeria.
