A service of songs was held for late filmmaker and media entrepreneur, Amaka Igwe, in Enugu on Thursday (June, 12, 2014). The service of songs, which was held at Okpara Square, was attended by many Nollywood pratcitioners. Some of those who were there are Hilda Dokubo, Nkem Owoh, Chigozie Atuanya, Ifeanyi Ikpoenyi,  Francis Duru, Ngozi Nwosu, and Jennifer Eliogu.

AMAKA IGWE TO BE BURIED JUNE 13

Burial arrangements for the late filmmaker and TV producer, Amaka Igwe, have been announced. A night of tribute for the filmmaker will be held at Havens Garden, Ikeja, on June 9, 2014. On June 12, 2014, a service of songs will be held at Okpara Square, Enugu. She will finally be laid to rest on June 13, 2014 at Ndiuche Arondizuogu, Imo State. The late filmmaker died on April 29, after suffering an asthma attack. She is survived by her husband, Charles Igwe, and three children, Ruby, Danny, and David. May her soul rest in peace.

HOW AMAKA IGWE DIED

It is no longer news that Nollywood director and producer, Amaka Igwe, died last Tuesday (April 29). However, the circumstances under which she died have now been made public, and the facts are just too painful to bear. The producer was in Enugu last Tuesday, making preparations for an Igbo-language soap opera, when she suffered an asthma attack. She could not get relief when from using her inhaler, and the decision was made to take her to a hospital.

Veteran filmmaker and TV producer, Amaka Igwe, has passed on at the age of 51. She passed on earlier today (April 29, 2014), after suffering an asthma attack, which proved to be fatal. This cruel news has been confirmed by Ibinabo Fiberesima, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
