MAMA G GOES TO MALAWI

No, this is not the title of a new Nollywood movie. Mama G (Patience Ozokwo), the only female general in Nollywood, is reported to have travelled to Malawi to participate in a production titled The Return. The production is was put together by a Malawian theatre company named Rising Choreos and Theatre Company.
  According to reports, Mama G took the role of a wicked woman (surprise, surprise) who trafficks children in the production.

The Director of the theatre company Joyce Chavula says the production is took advantage of the fact that Mama G is often cast in the role of a wicked woman in her movies.Mama G on the other hand has said that she is happy to play any role in a production as long as it sends a message to the public.

Mama G is the second Nollywood star to visit Malawi. The first was Desmond Elliot. This visit is one example of Nollywood strengthening acting and the movie industry in other parts of Africa by its example and expertise. Only a few months back, Mama G was in Kenya with other actors as part of an event tagged the Nollywood Roadshow.
