TUNDE KELANI PLANS BIG FOR MAAMi

Award winning veteran director, Tunde Kelani, has big plans for his latest movie,Maami which features star actress Funke "Jenifa" Akindele, Wole Ojo (winner, AMBO 4), as well as a host of other big names in the movie industry.The movie has already been premiered in Lagos (June 4), and Ekiti (June 13).
The Lagos premier was a celebration of the re-election of Mr.Babatunde Raji Fashola as the governor of Lagos State (Nigeria). The Ekiti premiere, which was attended by Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State (Nigeria), was a celebration of the June 12 democracy struggle. The June 12 struggle, was a 90's struggle to enthrone democracy in Nigeria, following the cancellation of elections, which were widely adjudged to have been won by the late Basorun MKO Abiola.

According to the respected director, more themed premiers are planned all over south-western Nigeria before the movie finally opens in the cinemas in September. He said there will be no DVD/VCD release of the movie at the moment due to the past experience of Mainframe Productions (his production company) with pirates.In a further attempt to bring the film experience to the grassroots, the movie will be taken around Nigeria using mobile cinemas. The mobile cinemas will be used to take the film to tertiary institutions in an exhibition and lecture series targeted at students of Mass Communication and other related disciplines. The movie is said to have been well received on account of its emotional storyline, excellent directing, as well as the star power of the cast. We salute the dedication of the ace director, and we wish him all the best with his latest work. Keep a date with him in September, when the movie hits the cinema circuit.
