Onye Egwu, a sports film directed by Uche Jombo, will debut on Prime Video on July 19th, 2024. It was premiered November 2023 at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF). Onye Egwu was co-produced by Uche Jombo and Taiwo Adebayo Folashade. The film stars Zubby Michael (Brotherhood, Omo Ghetto: The Saga, Shanty Town).
The cast of the film also includes Kayode Ojuolape, Tina Mba, Chioma Akpotha, Ini Edo, Lateef Adedimeji, Ufuoma McDermott, Debo Adedayo (aka Mr Macaroni), Nancy Isime, Broda Shaggi, Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, Emeka Nwagbaraocha, Williams Uchemba, Lilian Esoro, and Natacha Akide (aka Tacha).
The film tells the story of a football star who faces challenges that stop him from playing the sport he loves. But a chance encounter with Nedu, a rising star, reignites his passion and changes his perspective.
