Omoni Oboli has released a teaser for a second sequel to her popular 2016 film, Wives On Strike. This sequel is titled Wives on Strike: The Uprising, and it marks the return of Omoni to the director's chair.
The movie stars Omoni Oboli, Uche Jombo, Chioma Akpotha, and Ufuoma McDermott. The cast also includes Hilda Dokubo, Bunmi Adeaga-Ilori (aka Kiekie), Okey Bakassi, Julius Agwu, Segun Arinze, Sani Danja, Femi Branch, Kalu Ikeagwu, Emeka Okoye, Tomiwa Tegbe, and Folaremi Agunbiade.
In the first film in the trilogy, Wives on Strike, a group of market women tackle child marriage when a father attempts to force his child into early marriage, against her will.
In the second film in the trilogy, Wives on Strike: The Revolution, the market women take on domestic violence, when one of their number is killed by her husband.
The social issue, which the market women will be tackling in Wives on Strike: The Upsising has not been revealed. However, from the teaser, it can be surmised that the men will joined their struggle in this installment of the franchise.Wives on Strike: The Uprising is scheduled to be released in the third quarter of 2024.
