A service of songs and tribute night was held on Monday (June 9, 2014), for late filmmaker and media entrepreneur, Amaka Igwe. She died in Enugu on April 29, 2014, at the age of 51, after suffering from an asthma attack. The service of songs was attended by many of her friends, associates, and collaborators.
Present at the service of songs were Kunle Bamtefa, Ngozi Nwosu, and Sola Onayiga, who all starred in Amaka Igwe's popular sitcom, Fuji House of Commotion. Also at the service were Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ego Boyo, who both starred in Amaka Igwe's wildly popular soap opera, Checkmate, as well as her movie, Violated. Olateju Oyelakin (Teju Babyface) who was in Amaka Igwe's TV show, Solitaire, was also at the service.
