NEW YORK, NY – (June 27, 2011) – Nigeria Entertainment Awards (NEA Awards) is proud to announce that Funke Akindele will be gracing the stage this year as a co-host alongside Nigerian top comedian Julius Agwu. Nigeria Entertainment Awards will be taking place September 2nd to the 5th in New York City.
Funke Akindele has been in over 50 major films over a 10 year period. With award winning hit movies like JENIFA, and with her latest hit movie Omo Ghetto Funke Akindele is a growing icon in the ever progressive, booming movie industry in Nigeria often referred to as Nollywood. Not only is she a renowned actress, but Akindele is a producer and director. This multi-talented star is the perfect face of NEA, displaying versatility that will be honored during a weekend filled with art, music, film and pride.
The Sixth Annual NEA Awards scheduled for Sunday, September 4th, 2011 at 5:00pm at the Sharp Theater of the Symphony Space in New York. This year’s nominees highlight new and young talents that are destined to shape the future of African Entertainment with nominees spanning throughout Africa. Artists receiving multiple nominations this year include Asa, Naeto C, Banky W, MI, Don Jazzy, Ice Prince and Olamide. Over 5,000 registered voters continue to log in votes daily for their favorite entertainers. Voting is online at our website (www.nigeriaentawards.com) or via mobile phones (www.nigeriaentawards/mobilevote) and runs through August 27, 2011.
