Late Nollywood actor, John Okafor (aka Mr. Ibu) will be buried on June 28, in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State. This was made known in a statement released by his brother, Mr. Sunday Okafor. The burial of the actor will be a five-day event beginning on June 25 and ending on June 30. Activities lined up include a novelty football match, candlelight procession, Christian wake, and thanksgiving service.
The late actor passed away on March 2, 2024, after a long battle with ill health. In November 2023, his leg was amputated after enduring seven surgeries. His family members later took to social media to solicit for funds to clear his medical bills. Many individuals and organizations responded to this appeal, and contributed various sums of money for his treatment. However, controversy later erupted when members of the actor’s family accused each other of embezzling the funds donated.
The late actor will be remembered for his humor and large body of work, which will be enjoyed by fans for many years to come. Some of his memorable movies include Mr. Ibu, Coffin Producers, Mr. Ibu in London, and Police Recruit.
