NOT SMILING: OMOTOLA HAS A LOT ON HER MIND

Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, recently returned to Nigeria, after attending the TIME 100 Gala, which took place in Washington last Wednesday (April 29, 2014). While she was out of the country, Abuja was rocked by a bomb blast for the second time in three weeks. In addition, citizens began protesting the failure to rescue over 200 girls, who were abducted in Borno state, by the terrorist group, Boko Haram. It is no surprise then, that she woke up today with a lot on her mind. Read her message below:

"Good morning friends. Woke up with so much on my mind. Where do i start, there is so much they are not telling you... So much politicking with people's lives and destinies. What a wicked world. There is no more time for fake " I belong" behaviors. This is war! War on our freedom and sanity. Now's the time to think selfless and act. We are not fighting aliens , humanity is at war with itself! Power, money, fame... Greed. If you won't fight for yourself, fight for your loved ones! #stopthebloodshed. #findthegirls. #regainourhumanity #regainourpride"

  4. My sixteen years old daughter just came back from writing her JAMB exams with tales that leave me with my mouth wide open and teary eyes.
Is there really any hope for this country called Nigeria?
My daughter arrived her exam center(I Ajuru university or COE in Rumuolumini Port Harcourt by 7am, the exams finally commenced by 10am after each student was asked to pay the sum of N1000 as exam center access fee, of course my girl refused to pay as I had instructed her not to, she was initially denied entry but later allowed to enter the exam hall.
The real show of shame started when inside the exam hall they were all asked to submit their phones by the invigilator, all the other candidates did except my daughter who never went with one in the first place, she was asked to stand up for a search since the invigilator did not believe she did not have one on her, she was searched and of course nothing was found on her, on discovering that she had no phone or any other thing on her the invigilator asked her why she didn't have a phone on her, she responded by saying that it was illegal to do so, the invigilator asked her to stand up and told her in front of all the other candidates that he does not blame her, that the reason she has refused to cheat is because she is young, that by the time she attempts JAMB for five years without success she will learn to be smart, at this juncture , all the other candidates started laughing at her, and of course the little girl started crying, luckily she was able to pull her self together and did her very best. The real show of shame according to my girl started when all the other candidates were given back their phones after they paid the sum of N5000 each, they of course were receiving the answers to the questions through text massages, my daughter said the boy next to her did nothing until his phone rang about an hour and half after the commencement of the exam, and in less than 30mins the boy was done.
I really will not be able to tell all the story here, but I am very proud of my daughter who despite all the humiliation she received , stood tall and did what is right, it goes to show that as parents, my wife and I are doing a great job. She said she is not sure of what will become of her result given the way the invigilator reluctantly took her answer sheet. All said and done, this just goes to show how useless education is now in Nigeria, well, I am not really surprised, this is just a reflection of Nigeria as a whole, it is heart warming though to know that in all these rubbish, some Nigerians still walk with their head held high, and one of them luckily is my lovely daughter, Chika Adanna Scott-Ananaba, a girl in whom I am so so proud!!!!!!
