In the past few days, many blogs and websites, have wrongly reported that Nollywood star, and Airtel ambassador, Mike Ezuruonye, uploaded a picture on Instagram using a phone on the MTN network (a rival company to Airtel). However, nothing could be further from the truth. The story started when a popular blogger saw a screen grab of a picture on the actor's Instagram page, which was taken by someone using a MTN phone. Failing to realize that the picture she saw was a screen grab, she rushed to publish a story stating that the actor had uploaded a picture on Instagram, using a phone on the MTN network. Many other bloggers followed suit and published stories to the same effect without verification
This untrue story has been the cause of much embarrassment for the Nollywood star. Hopefully, this will be the last time that a celebrity will suffer this particular type of embarrassment.
