WINNERS AT THE ZUMA FILM FESTIVAL

The biennial Zuma Film Festival, organized by the Nigerian Film Commission (NFC), came to a close in Abuja (Nigeria), last Wednesday (May 9, 2012). The festival kicked off last Sunday (May 6, 2012), with an opening ceremony, which was held at the Silverbird Galleria. The festival ended on Wednesday with an award ceremony held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, which saw several actors and film-makers going home with awards. Following is a list of award winners at the festival.

1. Best Director - Tunde Kelani (MAAMi)
2. Best Actor - Yemi Blaq (The Impostor)
3. Best Actress - Funke Akindele (dir. by MAAMi)
4. Best Nigerian Film - MAAMi
5. Best Student Film - Naked Truth (dir. by Idi Nasiru)
6. Best Script - Tango With Me (dir. by Mahmood Ali-Balogun)
7. Best Distributor - Blue Pictures
8. Best Film Journalist - Shaibu Husseini
