The past few years have not been easy for Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar. A couple of years back, she developed a mysterious ailment, which reduced her to a shadow of herself, and which forced her to withdraw from public life. The sickness was so serious, that in 2022, she announced that she was retiring from acting, for health reasons.
In the midst of all these troubles, she got into a messy and very public feud with Apostle Johnson Suleman, the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries. She alleged that she had dated the man for 6 years, during which she claimed she got pregnant for him three times. The actress also claimed that Apostle Johson Suleman was behind her problems.
On his part Apostle Johnson Suleiman declared that the allegations made against him by the actress were false, and he slammed her with a lawsuit. In April this year, the Federal High Court in Abuja, ordered Halima Abubakar to pay the sum of N10m as damages to Apostle Johnson Suleman.
However, it appears the actress is on the road to recovery. At some point, she deleted all the posts on her Instagram account, and she began posting new pictures and videos. It was almost as if she was starting a new phase in her life, and wanted to put the bitter experiences of the past behind her.
On June 5, a teary and make-up free Halima Abubakar, posted a video on Instagram, in which she appreciated all those who had been there for her. She also apologized to those she had castigated for not checking up on her.
Shortly after posting this video, she made a visit to the palace of the Emir of people with disabilities in Karonmajigi, Abuja FCT, as part of her charity activities. This was the first high profile public outing the actress had made in years. It was an indication that things were beginning to return to normal for the actress.
Following this visit, the actress began a charity drive to raise support for children and disabled individuals. At the end of June, she announced that her foundation (Halima Abubakar Foundation) would hold a charity outreach at the palace of the Emir of people with disabilities in Karonmajigi, Abuja FCT, on July 27. According to the actress, 1000 children will be provided with free health care during this outreach. Also the charity plans to share foodstuff with 1000 disabled people during the outreach.
Not only has Halima Abubakar, resumed her charity activities, she has also resumed acting. In fact, she has shot two films already, one of which is Love Both, in which she stars alongside Benedict Johnson, Kofi Adjorlolo, and Francis Duru.
