HAPPY BIRTHDAY KUNLE AFOLAYAN!

Today is the birthday of award winning actor/director, Kunle Afolayan. He is the son of the late doyen of Nigerian cinema, Adeyemi Afolayan, popularly known as Ade Love.  Kunle studied Business Administration at the Lagos State Polytechnic, and worked as a banker for 7 years before quitting in 2005 to go fully into film-making. After quitting his banking job in 2005, he attended the New York Film Academy, where he studied digital film-making. Upon his return to Nigeria, he set up his production company, Golden Effects. He appeared in his first movie, Saworo Ide (directed by Tunde Kelani) in 1995. He also appeared in another Tunde Kelani production, Agogo Eewo, as well as a number other English and non-English films. His directorial debut, was the film, Irapada, which was released to critical acclaim. His follow up to Irapada, was The Figurine, which won 5 awards at the 2010 edition of the African Movie Academy Awards. He is currently working on Phone Swap, a movie starring Wale Adebayo, Nse Ikpe-Etim, and Chika Okpala. Join us in wishing him a happy birthday, as he adds another year today.
