LANCELOT IMASUEN AND THE OBA OF BENIN

One of the foremost directors in Nigeria, Lancelot "D Guvnor" Imasuen (A Private Storm, Games Men Play, Emotional Crack) on July 7, visited His Royal Highness, the Oba  of Benin, Omo N'Oba N'Edo Uku Akpolopolo. The purpose of the visit was to intimate the royal father of his intention to embark on the shooting of an historical epic, titled Ovonramwen.

The movie will tell the story of the last Oba of the ancient Benin Kingdom, Nogbaisi Ovonramwen. Lancelot Imasuen is one director who is known for celebrating and showcasing the history and culture of his people in his work.

The director has said that this movie will be his most expensive movie to date, and it is expected to gulp a whopping 2 million dollars. He has also said that the movie is being supported by Senator Daisy Danjuma. According to him, efforts are being made to enlist the services of Hollywood actor, Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon, Predators 2) for the movie. Work on the movie is expected to start January 2012.

  1. I think it would be a good idea if the permission is granted to write and art the movie.So many people have heard about the story of the great king, Ovaranme Nogbasi but, have not really understood how he reigned in the land of Edo.Bro please,go ahead;We are waiting to watch the movie.
