KUNLE AFOLAYAN DIRECTS "BREEZE" FOR SEC

Award winning director Kunle Afolayan (Irapada, The Figurine) has directed a new feature length comedy, titled Breeze, starring several top Nollywood stars. He directed the movie for the Securities and Exchange Commission(SEC) - the supervisory body of the Nigerian capital market.
The movie aims to deliver a financial message to viewers; educating them on financial planning, investment options, and the dangers of reckless spending.

The movie is scheduled to be released in October. It features amongst others, Chioma Akpotha, Ayo Adesanya, Yemi Solade, Edmond Enaibe, Hafiz Oyetoro, Joan Agabi, and Janet Odogwu. The release of the movie will kick off a year-long celebration of the golden jubilee of the Securities and Exchange Commission in Nigeria. This was announced at a recently held press conference. According to a press release, this movie will mark the first time that a public institution in Nigeria will collaborate with Nollywood to spread a message formally. The SEC is headed by its Director-General, Arunma Oteh.

SYNOPSIS
The story is centered on a popular, loving, hilarious and extravagant character who believes in “self, skin and beauty investments” (Grace Onome Dada nicknamed Breeze). She lives the good life and has a spouse who dotes on her and spoils her completely (holidays four to five times a year, everything that money can buy etc). The character has good intentions and is well meaning and quite intelligent just completely misdirected.

She has a best friend Bridget; they share a birthday and have been best friends since primary school. Bridget is sensible and hardworking but has a more ordinary life. She is a single mother of twins for a man who denied responsibility for her pregnancy. She works in a professional job and is the sole career for her boys. She believes in the value of investing.

Anthonia is their fast living friend with no visible source of income. The two friends meet regularly even though their lives are so different. Grace is very generous to Bridget who always insists on having the cash (which perplexes Grace but she nevertheless loves her friend).

A major incident occurs in the sudden death of Grace’s husband leaving her to fend for herself and her family. With no job experience whatsoever and no income life becomes tough. The rest of the story revolves around Grace’s acceptance of her new situation and coping with the difficulties life has thrown at her through humour and determination. The key message in the movie “Breeze” is on how important it is to invest instead of spending lavishly.
