NOLLYWOOD STARS TURN OUT FOR AMAA

The African Movie Academy Awards took place on Sunday, March 27, 2010. It was a night of glitz and glamour as actors, filmmakers, and personalities from all over the world converged on Bayelsa for the event. The event was held at the Gloryland Cultural Center and was hosted by the duo of Jim Iyke and Nse Ikpe-Etim. Several musicians added colour to the event by outstanding musical performances. Musicians who performed at the event include Tee-Mac, Malaika (SA), Dr. Sid, and Wande Coal. The roll call of guests who attended the event include Kate Henshaw-Nuttall, Olu Jacobs, Ejike Asiegbu, Chioma Akpotha, Rita Dominic, Omoni Oboli, Kunle Afolayan, Queen Nwokoye, Ofia Mbaka, Adaora Ukoh, Majid Michel, Lydia Forson, Yvonne Okoro, Beverly Afaglo, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Nate Parker, and James Gardiner.

Even though Nigeria picked up only 4 out of the 26 awards up for grabs, it did not detract from the success of the evening. It was indeed was an event that Nigeria can be proud of, as it once again hosted Africa and the rest of the world.
